The primary goals we have for our certification programs are to both assist law enforcement and organizations requiring highly skilled investigators in the identification of highly skilled individuals, and to promote the training and education efforts within the computer investigation, computer forensic and computer security industries.




Certifications

  • Basic Internet Investigation
  • Intermediate Internet Investigation
  • Advanced Internet Investigation

Application requirements..

  • For the above, as of April 2001, successful completion of the "certification track" within respective CERI "In The Trenches" online training programs (non-certification participation also welcome). Also, these certifications are subject to a distinct pricing structure tied directly to each respective program. See program details for the cost of each certification program. Current requirement: Law Enforcement and/or Internet Investigation Professionals.

Certification: Computer Forensic Examination

Application requirements..

  • At least (2) years direct computer investigation/debugging experience
  • At least (1) year full-time direct computer forensic experience in the analysis of multiple Microsoft platforms
  • At least (6) months full-time direct computer forensic experience in the analysis of any non-Microsoft platform
  • At least (40) hours computer forensic training obtained by an endorsed or approved training program
  • Demonstrate forensic knowledge in successful completion of a written exam corresponding to the certification sought
  • Demonstrate forensic ability in successful completion of exercises designed to test ability at the level of the certification sought



Certification: Advanced Computer Forensic Examination

Application requirements..

  • At least (2) years direct computer investigation/debugging experience
  • At least (4) years full-time direct computer forensic experience with experience in the analysis of at least two Microsoft based file systems
  • At least (2) years full-time direct computer forensic experience with experience in the analysis of any non-Microsoft platform
  • At least (80) hours computer forensic training obtained by an endorsed or approved training program
  • Demonstrate forensic knowledge in successful completion of a written exam corresponding to the certification sought
  • Demonstrate forensic ability in successful completion of exercises designed to test ability at the level of the certification sought



Certification: Advanced Computer System Security

Application requirements..

  • At least (2) years direct computer investigation/debugging experience
  • At least (3) years direct computer management/administration experience for Microsoft based systems
  • At least (1) years direct computer management/administration experience for non-Microsoft based systems
  • At least (40) hours computer system training obtained by an endorsed or approved training program
  • Demonstrate computer security knowledge in successful completion of a written exam corresponding to the certification sought
  • Demonstrate computer security capability in successful completion of exercises designed to test ability at the level of the certification sought
